2013: Week 25

Saturday 15 June

Daisy came into our room at around 05:00. We were both too tired to argue with her, or take her back to her room, so she stayed there until we got up. Jon didn't get much sleep after she arrived, though - she slept mostly on his side of the bed, and she wasn't afraid of defending her territory if he dared to move her over a bit...

Sunday 16 June

Shopping!

Monday 17 June

Daisy and I went to Thurleigh Farm Centre today, which has been recommended to me by a few people but we hadn't got round to trying it out. It was very quiet, being a weekday outside of school holidays, but it meant that we (and a handful of other families) had the run of the place. We spent 3.5 hours there, so it was well worth the entrance fee - especially as it was half price :). We took a picnic and ate it in the woods on the site.

Tuesday 18 June

Another photo from Thurleigh Farm yesterday, after I'd given it the Instagram treatment.

Wednesday 19 June

Finally, a warm day! We went to the park across the river this afternoon, and while it was hot, it wasn't actually very sunny except in two-minute bursts every half an hour or so. I managed to take this picture during one of those sun bursts - she looks pretty flushed, but she had plenty of cream on :).

Thursday 20 June

Daisy and I played hide and seek today and she found a great hiding place!

Friday 21 June

Another round of hide and seek. I love that you can see her peeking out to check whether she's been spotted :).

2013: Week 24

Saturday 8 June

I know this picture is terrible quality, but look how smiley she is!

Sunday 9 June

Daisy and her telescope...

Monday 10 June

When is the weather going to pick up??? We had a duvet day today, and our finest achievement was building a den.

Tuesday 11 June

This afternoon we met Harry and his Nonna at the park. Harry ran towards me for a cuddle, almost knocking me over when he got there! This was their favourite part of the afternoon - chocolate buttons!

Wednesday 12 June

We went shopping today for potty training supplies, including a new potty with Peppa Pig on it, but typically when we got to the shop, they didn't have it in stock. We bought a different one, though, and we also got some new knickers with her favourite characters on them - Minnie, Kitty, Peppa and Tinkerbell. She loved them so much, she wouldn't put them down and insisted on taking them with her in the car...

Thursday 13 June

Coming along nicely now. Brickwork is just about complete, and the timber frame for the first floor will go up next week, then the roof the week after. We hope!

Friday 14 June

Well, if the weather really isn't going to get any better, I suppose we might as well have soup for dinner. And it's one of only two ways I've found to get her to eat vegetables. This is leek & potato, and she loves it.

2013: Week 23

Saturday 1 June

Another to cross off the list...

Sunday 2 June

Jon and I went geocaching today in the area between our house and Tesco, about a mile away. This is the view of the River Mill pub at the end of our road from across the river. Why are we moving, again?

Monday 3 June

It was a lovely day today and Daisy and I spent most of it in the garden. I took this on my phone and there's too much flare that I wasn't able to get rid of with my rudimentary editing software and even more rudimentary editing skills, but I love that I managed to capture the water droplets while they were in the air. A total fluke, of course, but still...

Tuesday 4 June

We bought Daisy some Smarties on the way home from nursery today, as she'd been a good girl. Apparently she couldn't wait to get inside the house to open them, and was happy to sit on the step and eat them.

Wednesday 5 June

Yep that's my daughter sitting in a plant pot.

Thursday 6 June

Huge progress made this week on the house - half a dozen bricklayers have been working since Monday and the brickwork is due to be finished by the middle of next week :).

Friday 7 June

We stayed in Ipswich overnight last night and will leave tomorrow. This afternoon Daisy and I met up with Uncle Mark and Finn and spent a couple of hours geocaching. We only found one of three (although I found another one later on when Mark and Finn had gone home), but I got loads of cute pictures of our respective two-year-olds. This is my favourite. No idea what they were laughing at. I don't think they did, either.

2013: Week 22

Saturday 25 May

We drove to a lovely place called Scotland Farmhouse near Littleport, about an hour away, yesterday evening for a week's holiday with Jon's family. Today we went into Ely to have a look around and had lunch in a pub that was doing barbecue food and had activities for the kids in their outdoor area. It was a little windy, but Jess and Finn really enjoyed having their faces painted in particular. Daisy, of course, went nowhere near the face painting :).

Sunday 26 May

The weather was beautiful today; in fact, I realised I hadn't brought any sleeveless tops with me as I wasn't expecting the weather to be quite so nice, but I did throw in a pair of shorts at the last minute. We had a barbecue in the garden this afternoon and the kids loved climbing the tree, playing frisbee and eating their picnic together. This photo is really pixellated; I must have had the ISO setting way too high, but I was just glad to have a picture of the four of them all looking in the same direction...

Monday 27 May

Four of the people we're on holiday with have birthdays in May and June, so rather than try and find four separate dates we could all meet up to celebrate, we assigned each person with a birthday a day of our holiday week, and that person got to choose the activity we did and the food we ate. Today was Jon's Mum's turn and we went into Cambridge and hired a punt to take us along the river for an hour. I forgot to take my camera so this shot was just taken on my phone. We had a lovely time; Daisy even enjoyed herself once she got over having to wear a lifejacket, then we had a picnic in the park and David took us all to find a couple of geocaches. Mark and I had both signed up to Geocaching by the end of the day! Treasure hunting for the social networking age, what's not to like???

Tuesday 28 May

The weather took a turn for the worse again today, and reverted to Britain's usual fare, but even though it looked miserable, it didn't actually rain today and we still had great fun in the playground this afternoon.

Wednesday 29 May

Today was Katherine's 'birthday' and she opted to spend some quality time with her sewing machine. Brenda also brought hers, and anyone who wanted to could try something. I made a make-up bag and was very proud of it, and even Finn had a go :).

Thursday 30 May

If I thought Sunday's photo of all four kids looking at the camera was a good one, this one that Lou took is even better - not only are they all looking in the right direction, they're almost all smiling, too!

Friday 31 May

Jess and Daisy looked so cute with their binoculars this morning before we left. There was pretty much nothing to look at in the sky, but they still persevered for at least five minutes...

2013: Week 21

Saturday 18 May

Last September we bought tickets to see a play tonight at the Noel Coward theatre in London. It's called Peter and Alice and starred Dame Judi Dench and Ben Whishaw, two of my favourite actors. It was just 90 minutes long, straight through with no interval, which was actually quite nice as it meant we didn't get home too late :). Mum, Dad and Jen came with us, and Jen rather meanly took this photo of Jon and me on the tube. And seeing as I don't have another photo for today, this will have to do :).

Sunday 19 May

This is actually quite an old photo (it was taken last December) but I love what Instagram was able to do with it. And again, I don't have a photo for today.

Monday 20 May

1,000 days old today, and celebrating by proving she's still small enough to fit in the laundry basket.

Tuesday 21 May

Today involved a lot more sitting on the floor than Jen's used to - tea parties, picnics, peekaboo with the blanket...

Wednesday 22 May

My favourite girls :).

Thursday 23 May

I went over to Ipswich to check on our house build today. So far so good...

Friday 24 May

Daisy has had this buggy since last summer but it's only been in the last few weeks that she's been happy to put a baby in it - she's preferred just to push it around empty. Today she got baby ready for a walk, but I don't think she'll get very far in those shoes...

2013: Week 20

Saturday 11 May

I've been meaning to take some photographs of the tree at the edge of the park next to our house for a week or so, but the weather's been rubbish again and I wanted a nice coloured sky in the background. I got one today (or at least, there was a patch of sky behind the tree that was nice and blue), but I left it a little late to take the photos; the blossom would have looked nicer a few days ago. Still, I like it.

Sunday 12 May

It was warm enough to go to the park today, at least...

Monday 13 May

Update to the List Of Things That Daisy Will Eat: It now includes ham. Slowly but surely...

Tuesday 14 May

Daisy thought it would be funny to hide in the cupboard under the stairs. I called her bluff by closing the door fully, but that cupboard actually has two doors so I opened the other one to give her some light and peered over to find her. She loved it - spent a good ten minutes in there, opening and closing the tumble dryer door :).

Wednesday 15 May

We went round to our neighbours' house this afternoon and Daisy and Tate sat quite happily reading a book about animals.

Thursday 16 May

It's been a long day. Time for a nice cuppa tea :).

Friday 17 May

Who says you can't get any chores done with a toddler around? Just put her to work instead!

2013: Week 19

Saturday 4 May

This is Daisy running at me with the flower she chose from the garden centre. She helped Dee plant it in the back garden and she's going to watch it grow :).

Sunday 5 May

This was the view I had this afternoon while Skyping :)

Monday 6 May

I'm starting to get the hang of Instagram...

Tuesday 7 May

Apparently my request for Daisy to 'tidy up a bit' was interpreted as 'put all your toys in this bag'.

Wednesday 8 May

Eagle-eyed readers will notice that Daisy has the same outfit on as yesterday. It wasn't very dirty but it was in the laundry basket this morning, until Daisy took it out and insisted on wearing it again today, with the addition of her Minnie hair bow to complete the look.

Thursday 9 May

Bathtime fun :).

Friday 10 May

Daisy LOVES tea parties, particularly since I've started letting her put water in her tea pot. She especially loves filling all the cups to the brim, then continuing to pour... And she wonders why I said no to putting milk in the milk jug :).
