2013: Week 4

Saturday 19 January

Another photo of Daisy playing in the snow yesterday. Love it :).

Sunday 20 January

She does actually play with the contents of the Play-Doh tubs, too. Doesn't just build towers with them. But on this occasion she was happy just to build towers.

Monday 21 January

This was my attempt to get her to look at the camera. 'Show Mummy your biscuit!' She did what she was told, and you can't argue with that, I suppose.

Tuesday 22 January

All this wedding prep is pretty exhausting...

Wednesday 23 January

Playing hide and seek. Maybe not the best hiding place in the world.

Thursday 24 January

Yay, Jen's here!

Friday 25 January

Nanna & Grandpa arrived yesterday too, and we all decorated the wedding reception venue while Daisy was at nursery. Today there was still lots to do, and by 5pm certain family members were very tired...

2013: Week 3

Saturday 12 January

Jon went to London for his stag do today, so Daisy and I had a lazy day. This was taken while I was drying my hair - I turned the hairdryer to face her and tried to go for a Farrah Fawcett look, which isn't all that obvious from the photo. What is obvious, though, is that she liked it :).

Sunday 13 January

'One more biscuit. Please Mummy...'

Monday 14 January

Daisy got LOTS of HappyLand toys for Christmas from Nanna & Grandpa. We got them all out this morning and covered the living room floor in buildings, people, farm animals, cats, dogs, vehicles, trees, trains, track...

Tuesday 15 January

Daisy spent most of today in this position. Each to her own, I suppose. 'I upside down, Mummy!'

Wednesday 16 January

Daisy had a fringe cut in today.  I'm not sure if I like it. I think it would look nice if it were a bit longer and there were a bit more of it. The idea was that with a fringe, she wouldn't have to have her hair clipped back out of her eyes, and as it stands right now she still does, so I'll get the hairdresser to cut some more in so that it looks a bit more deliberate. And then maybe I won't spend my wedding day chasing after her to put her clips back in...

Thursday 17 January

I quickly put the straighteners on her fringe this morning (naughty Mummy) and I like it better already. I think it will look fine once it's a bit thicker.

Friday 18 January

Snow day! It started snowing at about 11:00 this morning. I was due to take Daisy to Daddy's but we agreed that he would come and get her tomorrow morning instead, as we didn't want to risk getting stranded. Instead, Daisy insisted on going out in the garden while the snow was falling. I got some lovely photos of her and was struggling to choose just one for today, but apparently I don't have to, as Picasa has a 'collage' function! I didn't realise that the chimney pots were just above her hat until after I'd taken the middle picture, so the 'Little Devil' look is entirely unintentional. Although not entirely inappropriate... :)

2013: Week 2

Saturday 5 January

Daisy got a kids' camera for Christmas, and she found out that you can move the lens to take self-portraits...

Sunday 6 January

Just relaxing at home.

Monday 7 January

Sometimes it works out quite well that Daisy wants whatever I've got...

Tuesday 8 January

We took the scooter out today for a practice along the street. Apparently she also wanted to practise her catalogue pose...

Wednesday 9 January

Daisy and I went to the bridal shop in Ipswich today to try on her bridesmaid's dress. Needless to say it didn't go brilliantly, but I did manage to get it on her and we established that the only alteration it needed was to the length. When we got home I put a pan of cauliflower and broccoli soup on as I was starving, thinking I would eat it while Daisy had something else for her tea. Daisy wanted to stir the soup so I sat her on the kitchen counter and told her to stir it gently, then went to get something from the fridge. When I turned back, she had the wooden spoon in her mouth! This is the same child who had had such a tantrum about eating soup two days ago that she said she'd rather go for a nap than eat it (and it was butternut squash soup which, in my opinion, she would have liked a lot better than the cauliflower and broccoli). Firstly I told her not to put the wooden spoon in her mouth without blowing it, as the soup could be hot, but after that I just watched her spooning soup into her mouth, so we both had a bowl of it for our tea, and she ate it all up!

Thursday 10 January

Today was Daisy's first day at nursery in three weeks, and it was also the day that she moved up into a different room. The speed at which the smile on her face turned into a grimace when she found out it was nursery day today made me feel like a really bad Mummy, and she reverted to screaming the place down when I left her, but once she'd been there a few minutes she was fine. And it meant I could catch up on some TV I'd recorded over Christmas; something I can't do now that she doesn't nap. Here's a picture taken after she'd had her bath tonight and was watching TV before bedtime. Her hair seems to have had another growth spurt recently, and it's all the more noticeable when it's wet and straighter than usual...

Friday 11 January

Apparently children who are involved in the preparation of their food are more likely to eat it. And children whose mothers take pictures of them every day are more likely to ignore repeated requests for them to smile :).

2013: Week 1

Happy New Year! This post will have four photos in it as 2013 started on a Tuesday and my weeks start on a Saturday. Normal service will be resumed next week...

Tuesday 1 January

It was a beautiful day today - cold but clear; not a cloud in the sky. Daisy and I took the opportunity to get her some practice on her new scooter in the courtyard of the cottage we're staying in for New Year. What started out as scooter practice turned into a mini-photo session :).

Wednesday 2 January

So apparently Daisy didn't get the memo about making her New Year's Resolution to LOOK AT THE CAMERA! Oh well. I guess she also didn't pay any attention when I said 'Don't spill your milk down your t-shirt...'

Thursday 3 January

We left our New Year cottage today at 07:00, dropped Jon in Oxford then Daisy and I drove home, arriving just after 09:00.  Daisy had travelled in her pyjamas and when I suggested she put some clothes on at around 10:00, she declined.  I figured we weren't going out anywhere today so we could have a duvet day. Here's her new favourite Mickey-Mouse-watching position.

Friday 4 January

We went to Crackerjacks today, the new soft play place I found out about before Christmas that's walking distance from our house. I didn't take any photos of her in the play area because it was much busier than when we'd been before and I didn't want to risk incurring the wrath of other parents by having their kids in the background. Instead, here's Daisy waiting for her fish fingers. I think if she were capable of drumming her fingers on the table, she would have :).
