2013: Week 45

Saturday 2 November

Grinding up the spices for Mummy's curry.

Sunday 3 November

Our office, which currently houses all the leftover furniture we can't fit in any of the other rooms in the house. I'd love to buy some matching bookcases but we really have run out of money now, so it will have to wait until next year. And in the meantime, at least everything's not still in boxes.

Monday 4 November

The groundworkers levelled off the driveway today, ready for the tar and chip to be laid tomorrow. I've never got through tea bags as quickly as I have this past month, with anywhere from two to six people working on our landscaping :).

Tuesday 5 November

Daisy fashioned herself a place in which to watch cartoons on her iPad :).

Wednesday 6 November

Trying on Mummy's hat. Teamed with pyjamas and comforters, I think it's a really good look...

Thursday 7 November

Our front room, which in time will become the piano room, but in the meantime is somewhere to keep all our pictures, which haven't yet made their way to our new walls.

Friday 8 November

Cheeky chops :). She looks really grown up in this picture. Where did my baby go???

2013: Week 44

Saturday 26 October

Yay, Jen's here! This photo made me laugh: I kept asking Daisy to look at me and not the TV, and she kept saying 'I am looking at you!' And she wonders why I didn't believe her...

Sunday 27 October

We had a little photo session this afternoon, and seeing as I don't have enough photos to fill the week (surprise, surprise), here are a few of the best ones :).

Monday 28 October

I don't think Daisy's ever worn black clothes before. She looks lovely :). And Jen does, too, obviously...

Tuesday 29 October

I think it's pretty obvious from this picture that Daisy was getting fed up of photos :).

Wednesday 30 October

Daisy went to Daddy's yesterday for a couple of days. He bought her some binoculars and magnifying glass so she could go treasure-hunting :).

Thursday 31 October

Nearly there...

Friday 1 November

I realised I hadn't posted a picture of the back garden since it was finished - or at least, since the groundworkers finished the bits we could afford to pay them to do. We'll finish the rest next spring when we've saved some money. The missing fence panels are from the storm that passed through earlier this week. Our neighbours out the back have a lovely garden :).

2013: Week 43

Saturday 19 October

After weeks of hoping it would turn up, last weekend I found the mid-beam for the spare bed! In the shed, obviously. And today I was able to move enough boxes in the spare room that there was space to put the bed up! So that's FOUR usable bedrooms! It only took a month...

Sunday 20 October

The front of the house, which is the reason that people driving past think we're living in a building site. The front is actually the last bit of the house to be worked on - the upstairs is pretty much unpacked, and the downstairs is nearly there; the back garden is on its way, and that just leaves the front. Which will be a building site for a couple of weeks yet, but after that it will be a driveway :).

Monday 21 October

Yes, it's a dishcloth. No, it wasn't my idea to put it on her head. Yes, it's clean.

Tuesday 22 October

Nanna & Grandpa arrived yesterday for a quick visit on the way back from a week in Turkey. Here's Daisy introducing Nanna to the joys of the fairy game (which is actually a really good observation-type game; I have been known to play it even when she's not around!).

Wednesday 23 October

Daisy took Grandpa and me swimming today. Nanna spectated, and took the photo, and was really impressed with how much more confident Daisy is in the water these days. I noticed today that she seemed to pick up from where she left off last week, whereas in previous weeks it's taken her a little while to get used to the water again. Swimming lessons soon, I think...

Thursday 24 October

Another one from swimming. There's never any difficulty in getting Daisy out of the pool - as long as I've remembered to bring the Smarties :).

Friday 25 October

A view of the front driveway from the upstairs window, which unfortunately misses out where most of the work has taken place this week, immediately outside the front door and along the front of the house, which has been block paved. We also have gate pillars! We can't afford to put gates on right now, but when we can, the pillars are ready!

2013: Week 42

Saturday 12 October

We had the McPowseys (also known as the McNaes, Powers, Lenneys and Kerseys, or Jon's family, if you prefer) round for lunch today. The kids (and Uncle Mark) enjoyed playing on the digger that the groundworkers had left in the back garden over the weekend :).

Sunday 13 October

Putting special water on her contact lenses, just like Dee does :).

Monday 14 October

Yesterday Jon and Daisy made bread rolls. She had a great time mixing the ingredients and putting poppy seeds on them...

Tuesday 15 October

... then she had just as much fun watching them cook in the oven :).

Wednesday 16 October

Progress! Rear patio laid and ground being prepared for the lawn.

Thursday 17 October

Daisy and I went round to Nanny's as has become the usual routine on a Thursday lunchtime after I pick her up from playschool. Jammy Dodgers and Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom.

Friday 18 October

What did you do before 08:00 this morning? The four men working on our garden had moved a shed by then!

2013: Week 41

Saturday 5 October

As well as it being Dad's birthday weekend, Jen's gospel choir gave a concert at Mum & Dad's church this evening. It started at 7pm, and because we all wanted to see at least some of the concert, we brought Daisy with us and Jon took her home at the interval. She did really well, considering it started at bedtime. She sat on the steps with Aggie and Ellie and clapped on cue. The only slightly embarrassing moment was when she shouted 'Is it nearly finished?' but other than that, she did great :).

Sunday 6 October

Mum & Dad's lounge is a really good size, which is what made this set-up all the more funny: both of them squeezing round the table leg to play dominoes while Daisy had all the room in the world :).

Monday 7 October

'Helping' Grandpa open his birthday present at the weekend. It was beer, so unfortunately she couldn't help him drink it too...

Tuesday 8 October

Work began on our back garden today. This was the lie of the land this morning before work got underway.

Wednesday 9 October

Daisy tries her hand at hide-and-seek.  Not many places to hide in a changing cubicle at the swimming pool...

Thursday 10 October

This is the most finished of the rooms in our house, and the only one with pictures on the wall.  Apologies for the potty front and centre :).

Friday 11 October

A good few days' work - the patio has been edged and flags are waiting to be laid.

2013: Week 40

As with last week, a bunch of photos that were probably all taken this week (ish) but, as you'll see from the clothes, possibly not following the usual rules of a picture a day...

Saturday 28 September

Just a small selection of the masterpieces that Daisy brought home from playschool this week. And so it begins ;).

Sunday 29 September

Imelda Marcos. Actually, strictly speaking, I would be the Mrs Marcos in that analogy, and Daisy would be the cheeky monkey who sneaked into her closet and had a shoe party :).

Monday 30 September

One of the many positions Daisy has adopted this week to watch TV...

Tuesday 1 October

... and another...

Wednesday 2 October

Perfecting the art of eating spaghetti.

Thursday 3 October

A day early with this photo (or a day late, depending on your point of view). It was Grandpa's birthday yesterday so we went up to spend the weekend with them. This was roughly photo number 312 - I swear Dad's as bad as Daisy at looking at the camera :).

Friday 4 October

Playing peekaboo with Jen - who isn't much better at camera etiquette, to be honest. Maybe it's in the genes...

2013: Week 39

Moving week this week, so not much photo-taking going on. Here's a bunch of photos that may or may not have been taken this week...

Saturday 21 September

Daisy has a couple of hair bands but every time I've tried to get her to wear one, she's either thrown a paddy or taken it straight off as soon as I've put it on. So I was pleasantly surprised when she came up to me wearing this :).

Sunday 22 September

I love this picture of Daisy and her friend Bella at the soft play place. Just having a rest...

Monday 23 September

I took this last week at the last toddler session we went to in St Neots. Daisy took it upon herself to read Julia a book :).

Tuesday 24 September

Caption competition time...

Wednesday 25 September

Our first night in the new house! We've been here in Ipswich since Sunday but there were too many workmen around at the beginning of the week, still working on the house, so we stayed at Jon's Mum's house while they're on holiday. We managed to make up enough beds to sleep here tonight, though. Here's the most finished of the rooms at the moment...

Thursday 26 September

This is one side of the office...

Friday 27 September

... and this, unfortunately, is the other side. Lots of work still to do here :).
